Weights, distances and rules here come from the official HYROX rulebooks for the 2026/27 season (PDFs dated 14 September 2026, read on 6 October 2026). HYROX can change them, and venues differ in details such as the number of laps in each run, so check the current rulebook before you race.

HYROX doubles: who does what

Both partners run all eight runs of 1 km together. If one runs ahead, the team gets a 1 minute penalty. At each station one partner works while the other waits, and they swap as often as they like, so the split is the team’s choice.

Split evenly, each partner does 1,240 m of station work and 50 wall balls. A 60/40 split with the stronger partner taking both sleds gives partner A 1,528 m and 60 wall balls, and partner B 952 m and 40.

There are five doubles divisions: Doubles Women, Doubles Men, Mixed Doubles, Pro Doubles Women and Pro Doubles Men. In Mixed Doubles both partners use the same weights. The HYROX weights page lists them all.

HYROX relay: legs and order

A relay team has four members. A leg is one 1 km run and the station after it, and each member does two legs, so the team covers one full race. Only one member races at a time.

The team picks the order. The planner offers two: each member twice, spread out (legs 1 and 5, 2 and 6, and so on), or two legs back to back (legs 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and so on). In a Mixed Relay team of two women and two men, each member uses the weights for their own category; the planner makes members A and B the women.

The relay divisions are Relay Women, Relay Men and Mixed Relay. There is no Pro relay.

How it works

Pick doubles or relay. For doubles, choose the division and partner A’s share of the station work, and whether one partner takes both sleds. For the relay, choose the team and the order of legs. The table lists what each person does at every station, with the load in kilograms or pounds.

The HYROX stations page has the full doubles and relay rules, and the HYROX pace calculator turns station times into a finish time.

The formula

Formula
doubles, each station: partner A's work = station distance or reps × A's share
partner B's work = the rest
relay: each member = 2 legs = 2 × (1 km run + one station)

Worked example

A Men’s Doubles pair splits 60/40, and partner A takes both sleds.

  1. Sled push and pull: all to partner A, 50 m each.
  2. Wall balls: 60 reps for A and 40 reps for B.
  3. In total A does 1,528 m and 60 reps, B 952 m and 40 reps, and both run 8 km.

Questions

Do both partners run in HYROX doubles?

Yes. Both run every one of the eight runs together. Running ahead of your partner costs a 1 minute penalty, and more than 3 of those take the team out of the ranking.

Do you have to split the stations evenly?

No. The rulebook lets the partners swap whenever they like, so one partner can do more of a station or all of it. Both go into and out of each station together.

How many legs does each relay member do?

Two. Each leg is a 1 km run and the station after it, and the four members share the eight legs.

Which weights does a Mixed Relay team use?

Each member uses the weights for their own category, so the women and the men in the team move different loads. In Mixed Doubles both partners use the same weights.
